ROERO: TERROIR OR FAMILY?
The world of wine can be complicated sometimes. Let me clear it up for you.
Many wine experts associate the name Roero with the hilly territory north side of the Tanaro River in the province of Cuneo. Where the Arneis and Nebbiolo are the most popoular grape varieties . That is correct.
Few people know, however, that the Roero territory was named as such by the noble Roero family, originally from Asti, which with purchases and enfeoffments occupied the area starting in the 14th century.
So, Roero is just our noble family name, not the land where we cultivate our vineyards.
Our winery is located in Montegrosso d'Asti. Between the Langhe and the Monferrato Area.
A fascinating territory where viticulture is still one of the main activities. This has been the incentive to preserve and environmentally safeguard the natural beauty of this place.
A land with immense enological, economic and touristic potential sometimes not fully understood.
But that is also why I am here, to make it shine even more. With your help of course.
